Dogs excluded from designated middle beach section near Formby Point May to September to protect ground-nesting ringed plovers and oystercatchers. Northern sections (Freshfield/Ainsdale) and southern areas open to dogs year-round. Dogs must be on leads in pinewoods and near red squirrel reserve year-round. Restricted zones marked with signs and rope barriers.
