About this walk

Howardian Local Nature Reserve is a 13-hectare wildlife haven on a former landfill site in east Cardiff, with an easy, flat network of stone-dust and grass paths through woodland, meadow and wetland. It's a quiet, low-key option for dog walkers wanting birdlife and pond wildlife over big views, with over 500 recorded species. There is no city-wide off-lead ban, but given the reserve's ponds and ground-nesting habitat, keeping dogs close and under control is sensible.
