About this walk
From Castleton, the classic Mam Tor circular climbs onto open moorland along the Great Ridge, with panoramic views over the Hope and Edale valleys. This is working farmland and access land, so dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, tightened to no more than 2 metres on open access land between 1 March and 31 July to protect ground-nesting birds and lambing sheep. Good paths but exposed and can be muddy after rain.
