About this walk

A dramatic short walk on the Novar Estate near Evanton, following a waymarked path through Black Rock Wood to a wooden footbridge spanning the narrow, 40-metre-deep Black Rock Gorge carved by the River Glass. The gorge is one of the most striking landscape features in Easter Ross, with sheer rock walls and fast water far below. Paths are estate tracks with some steep, unguarded drops near the gorge edge, so care is needed with dogs and children.
