About this walk
A gentle circular walk from Llangollen out along the Llangollen Canal towpath to Valle Crucis Abbey, a ruined 13th-century Cistercian abbey set in the Eglwyseg valley beneath Dinas Bran. The route follows flat, well-surfaced canal towpath before a short climb up quiet lanes and field paths to the abbey grounds, with the return leg retracing the canal or crossing fields back into town. Eliseg's Pillar, an early medieval memorial cross, stands a short distance further along the valley for those wanting to extend the walk.
