The chalk ridge that rises abruptly north of Portsmouth, offering a huge sweep of view over Portsmouth Harbour and inland to the South Downs. A network of permissive paths links Fort Widley, Fort Purbrook and the wildflower slopes of Portsdown itself for a bracing inland ridge walk.
