Jack Russells are one of the best examples in the canine world of a dog whose character is genuinely shaped by its original purpose. Understanding that heritage, the working terrier's independence, tenacity and physical courage, is the key to appreciating the breed and managing it successfully. In the right home, with a patient and experienced owner who provides consistent training, adequate exercise and appropriate mental stimulation, the Jack Russell Terrier is a devoted, entertaining and remarkably long-lived companion.
