Seatown

Seatown is barely a hamlet: a lane, a handful of houses and The Anchor Inn dropping down to a shingle beach under Golden Cap, the highest point on England's south coast. The beach itself carries a restriction from May to September, but this stretch of Dorset compensates within a few kilometres in either direction: Eype beach and Burton Bradstock's Hive Beach welcome dogs all year, and so does the long shingle at Cogden.

Is the Golden Cap walk dog friendly?

The reason dog owners come is the walking. The coast path over Golden Cap climbs straight out of the hamlet, and the summit gives you the whole of Lyme Bay at your feet, with fossil-hunting territory below.

Small, quiet and surrounded by big country, Seatown is the Jurassic Coast at its least commercialised.
