Beer is a proper working fishing village folded into a chalk cove on the Jurassic Coast, and it makes a strong dog base as long as you know the local pattern. The western section of Beer beach and neighbouring Seaton carry restrictions from May to September, but Branscombe beach, one headland west, welcomes dogs all year, and the Seaton seafront walkway between Castle Hill and Trevelyon Road stays dog friendly year round.

Where can you eat with a dog in Beer?

That combination means summer visits work fine: morning on year-round Branscombe, then back to Beer for lunch. The village and the coast either side hold 17 reported dog-friendly cafes and pubs in our directory, including the Masons Arms at Branscombe, usefully placed at the end of the beach walk.

What are the best dog walks around Beer?

The walking is the reason to stay longer. The coast path over Beer Head gives you white chalk cliffs, and further east Monmouth Beach at Lyme Regis is another year-round dog beach under the fossil cliffs. Few places pack this much coast into such a small base.
