About this walk
A short but characterful stretch of the Sandstone Trail immediately south of Helsby Hill, running along the wooded Alvanley Cliff and out over Simmond's Hill. The escarpment path gives sudden gaps in the trees with views across the Mersey basin, and there are enough field paths and quiet lanes to loop back through Alvanley village. A locals' favourite that stays quiet even on busy weekends.
