About this walk

A quietly spectacular stretch of the Sandstone Trail south of Beeston, climbing through the ancient beech and Scots pine woodland of Bulkeley Hill to Rawhead, at 227m the highest point on the trail. The soft red sandstone crags, hollow ways and long views over the Cheshire plain feel much wilder than the county's gentle reputation suggests, and the mix of woodland cover and open ridge makes it a rewarding all-seasons dog walk.
