Running for roughly 2.5km along the eastern bank of the River Chelmer from Valley Bridge to Victoria Road, this council-managed local nature reserve links Chelmsford city centre to the northern suburbs. The northern stretch has unimproved grassland, old hedges, scrub and river-lined woodland, while the southern section near the housing is more formally mown, with multiple footbridge and path access points.
