About this walk
A wooded volcanic ridge on the west side of Edinburgh with a network of paths climbing to Clermiston Tower and the Rest-and-be-Thankful viewpoint, giving sweeping views over the Forth and the city. The reserve mixes mature broadleaf and conifer woodland with open grassland, badger setts and a small zoo boundary along part of its edge (Edinburgh Zoo backs onto the hill). Paths are informal and can be muddy after rain, with some short, steeper climbs near the tower.
