About this walk

Ham Lands is a 54-hectare nature reserve in Richmond, managed by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, occupying the Thames riverside between Ham and Petersham. Ham Common is an adjacent 81-acre common and woodland. The 7km circular from Ham Gate links both sites, entering the Lands from Ham Gate car park, following the Thames bank through the open grassland and scrub of Ham Lands, turning south along the river before looping back through Ham Common. The Thames bank section has direct river access for dogs over a firm gravel strand. Ham Lands is dog-friendly throughout. Ham House National Trust tearoom is dog-friendly outside and is a short detour from the route.
