The formal walled gardens and castle ruins at Lowther, near Penrith and Ullswater, are a compact, dog-friendly attraction distinct from the wider Lowther Park estate. Paths are flat, gravelled and easy to navigate around the exhibition, adventure playground and garden rooms. Dogs must stay on a lead throughout the admission-charged grounds, and the cafe welcomes well-behaved dogs too. Roughly a mile of gentle paths to explore.
