An unexpectedly wild pocket of heather, silver birch and old sandstone quarries above the town of Runcorn, now managed as a Local Nature Reserve. A network of paths wanders between crag-topped viewpoints looking north over the Mersey Estuary and south into rural Cheshire. Popular with local dog walkers and quiet on weekday mornings.
