About this walk
The little hill that famously converted Alfred Wainwright to fellwalking, Orrest Head is a short, well-graded climb from Windermere village to a rocky viewpoint over the entire lake. Shaded woodland switchbacks make it manageable in most weather and a rewarding stretch for a dog after the train.
