About this walk
A Durham Wildlife Trust reserve beside the River Wear near Witton-le-Wear, built around former gravel workings that are now lakes, wet woodland and reedbed. A network of smooth, level surfaced paths links a series of bird hides, making this an easy, accessible circuit good for spotting kingfishers, herons and woodland birds. There's a visitor centre and cafe at the entrance.
